What your dues to Comfy Cozy Voodoo Lounge accomplish?
There are lots of ways to do Burning Man. In our camp we are a PARTICIPATION camp. Truly and totally. We're not pay to play, plug in play, high-roller, turnkey or for-profit. The dues we ask of one another are an honest contribution that we each make to collectively resource things that we all need (water, grey water disposal, food, ice, coffee, shade, etc.) and some of the things that we wish to share with the larger Black Rock City Community (community art, gifts, magical experiences).
Water and Grey Water Disposal.
We're coordinating with an approved Outside Service Supplier to have fresh water delivered to our camp for our daily drinking consumption, for our camp kitchen and our showers. Storage containers for grey water and fresh water also are in our budget. Grey water is pumped from our containers and processed off playa. This saves considerable weight in all of our cars driving to and from Black Rock City. Most people bring around 12 gallons for 8 days of cooking, drinking and cleaning to burning man. 12 gallons weighs about 100lbs. If you have 4 people in a vehicle that quickly approaches 400lbs just in water!
Communal Kitchen and Community Dinner Daily.
It's a good time to regroup, put on warmer outfits and head out for a gorgeous sunset. Bringing one commercial grade cooktop and propane and sharing community meals makes more sense than us collectively bringing 10 or more stoves to the playa. Keeping our main meal food storage, ice, food prep and cleaning to one area makes for a cleaner camp with less waste. Food tastes better when we eat it together!
While it's not the unlimited water supply you might be used to at home - we have our own showers that are refreshing and in-camp. If you don't want to use your shower token on a day of the week you can gift it to someone else!
Meet coffee-Jesus every day. For the early-to-rise, let's commune around sacred coffee in the camp lounge each day. Bring your own coffee mug! Want to lead camp yoga? Coffee may help!
Camp Infrastructure Transportation
In our budget are funds for a 26' rental cargo truck, fuel and insurance. This is to transport our shade, food, water storage, grey water storage, kitchen structure, bike racks, etc on to the playa. This same truck will help us transport our trash off the playa when we're ready to leave. Some bikes/yurts could be shuttled to playa ahead of time by our build crew if it seems like we'll have extra room in the truck when it departs Sacramento on Thursday before Burning Man.
